Diamond Jubilee Plans for Coed Cadw
The Woodland Trust of Wales is to make its own Diamond Jubilee Gift to the nation by launching the Diamond Wood projects. The plan is to plant three brand new 60 acre woods in Wales to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
It’s expected that at least 6,000,000 new trees will be planted across the UK. The inspiration comes from the Woodland Trust of Wales in the shape of two initial projects – the Bluestone National park resort near canaston Bridge in Pembrokeshire and Ffos Las racecourse near Llanelli in Camarthenshire.
On his most recent visit to Ffos las in June, Prince Charles planted a commemorative oak, while in March a number of army cadets planted nearly 900 trees .
A highlight for the Bluestone Park said that the development will result in the two parts of the ancient Canaston Woodsknitted together for the first time in hundreds of years.
